DESCRIPTION
Fallout starts eighty years after world war three. Life sucks in this barren wasteland. But lucky for you your forefathers were prepared for global thermal nuclear war and built undergound survival Vaults. You get to take on the role of one of these Vault-Dwellers. Thats right a Vault-Dweller, a person who has lived there whole life in Vault number 13.
Guess what? The shit hits the fan. The water purifer has taken a dump and with out it you and your fellow Vault dwellers will die from dehydration. Of course everything falls upon your shoulders to save Vault 13. You set out from the safety of the Vault in search of a water purification controller chip. It's a
strange world you enter. A world full of mutants, radiation, gangs and plenty of violence.
At the center of FALLOUT is your character. When you start this game you are given a choice to create your own character from scratch, or choose from three ready made ones. (In the DEMO you are not given a choice. There is only one. Thats it. Thank you very much.) The character creation system will allow you to make a vibrant, unique character. Fallout is using a skill-based system. I personly don't like character classes. I have played paper role playing games for a long time and I believe character classes are just to limiting. The skill-based system will allow you to fine tune your character in any direction you wish.
Experience is gainned half from combat, the other half will come from solving adventures and non-combat stuff, your character will grow as you determine. You control your destiny!
Now for the fun stuff, COMBAT. Fallout is a tactical turn-based system. Hey, you actually get to make some thinking decisions and get to take as much time as you need. During combat you can run to the ice box and grab a bite to eat or drink or maybe both. With this age of DOOM type first person perspective and
real time combat I think this will be a nice change. Don't get me wrong I love playing DOOM & Quake and I do use that PAUSE button alot. Any way back to combat, Choose from different types of attacks, with a variety of weapons and attack skills. Weapons include: shotguns (gut scatterer), flamethrowers (tunnal
clearer), chainguns (forrest mower), rocket launchers (tank buster), sub-machine guns (bullet dazzeler), sledgehammers (head smasher), Brass knuckles (jaw cracker) and more.
Fallout is the unofficial sequel to WASTELAND, one of the Best computer roleplaying games ever made.
