Based on the classic sci-fi novel by Roger Zelany, a small but hardy band of survivors traverses a post-apocalypse American landscape in this sci-fi thriller. After a nuclear holocaust leaves only three survivors (Jan-Michael Vincent, George Peppard, and Paul Winfield) at an underground military facility, they load up a special all-terrain land cruiser and head for Albany (for some reason, the only American city not nuked). As they travel through the wastelands in between, they pick up a couple hitch-hikers as they battle huge mutant insects, roving bands of radiation-maddened survivors, and brutal electrical storms.
